An inspiring patch of green
Walking home today I stumbled across something beautiful! Check it out:
A tiny oasis in a desert of concrete. This little patch is no more than 10 square cm. But I was so inspired by what nature can do with a tiny hole in the pavement.
A tiny hole that collected dust, dirt, and debris. Got rained on and turned it all to the soil. Sprouting this tiny patch just in time for spring.
It made me think of a quote by Masanobu Fukuoka, a Japanese farmer and philosopher celebrated for his natural farming and re-vegetation of desertified lands.
“If we throw mother nature out the window, she comes back in the door with a pitchfork.”
It doesn’t always feel that way when working in the garden trying to get what you want to grow but this little patch reminded me that growth is the natural state of things. And I just need to figure out the best way to help get it going.
Happy spring gardening y’all!
