The last week or so has been so dry where we live. Our kids have learned a lot about static electricity this week ;-) and how chapped our cheeks and lips get in this weather. We quickly used up our stash of lip balm, so I made some more last night.

It is a very simple recipe with only three ingredients:
Coconut Oil: Is a natural saturated fat, rich in antioxidants. It helps soothe skin irritations and heal chapped skin, and gives mild protection from UV rays.
Sweet Almond Oil: A mild hypoallergenic oil, rich in vitamin E, is great for sensitive skin. It has a natural UV protection as well.
Beeswax: The wax acts as a cap which helps seal the moisture on your lips. In addition, it is rich in vitamin A which improves skin hydration and promotes generation of new cells.

Perfect lip balm:
1 tbsp coconut oil
1 tbsp sweet almond oil
½ tbsp grated packed beeswax
Optional: 4 drops essential oils (I used 2 drops lavender, 1 drop eucalyptus, 1 drop geranium. It smells wonderful)
Melt oils in a double boiler.
Remove from heat and add essential oils.
Pour into containers and allow to cool and harden before moving them.

Enjoy!
